I don’t spend any money 20+ days out a month. Its radically easy and I stay busy. Pack a lunch and fill a water bottle. Go outside. Hike. Bike. Take a walk. Throw a frisbee. Rake the yard. Weed a garden. Talk to a stranger. Get a library book or grab a book off your shelf. Take a bath. Clean the pantry. Clear a closet shelf and make a donation pile. Vacuum. Dust. Call your mom. Send a thank you note. Braid your niece’s hair. Make a great cup of coffee. Paint the bathroom. Tell someone they matter to you. Pot a plant. Help your neighbor carry in their bags. Pick up some litter. Listen to something new.
Your local library may have passes to local museums! Ours has about 20 - some are free, some are reduced admission - and the passes are free with your library card!
Definitely hitting the library to pick up some books and see what else these amazing places offer. I once lived in a tiny mountain village with a volunteer-run library that rented out TELESCOPES!
More ideas...
- planning out this year's garden, going through my seed collection,
- sprouting some microgreens
- doing a puzzle
- checking out the free activities and clubs offered in my town
- writing letters to friends
- dusting off the old sleds and going to relive my childhood sliding down the snow-covered mountain at the park
Doing a deep clean of my house/organizing always feels good! Other favorites: a puzzle, playing a board game or cards (cribbage!), writing a letter to a friend, or calling someone who lives far away. Eff Jeff and all his friends.
Light a hand-poured candle purchased from a favorite Etsy creator and go old-school with a deep chat with a long-time friend. Hug the people I love and appreciate. Serve my community with simple, practical, easily actionable practices to support their daily lives. Thanks for this, Sarah! 🙌🏻
Ooooh! What a wonderful reminder… I’ve cancelled my Audible and Kindle Unlimited subscriptions. I’m going back to reading more on the Libby app (which you recommended to me) as there is lots to read on there!!
I am going to ask for some donations for my local Creative Mornings, do my laundry, clean the dishwasher, interview a woman business owner for my podcast and lift weights with my friends at the gym walkable from my house.

Emma, this is incredible!
I started a Little Free Blockbuster on my porch for my neighborhood. It's literally just a shelf of DVDs for people to borrow, keep, or swap.
EXCUSE ME THIS IS WONDERFUL!!!!
Thank you! Little Free Blockbuster is like Little Free Library, but not widely known yet, so I'm hoping to spread awareness and movies!
Man this is awesome! Aren’t people great! ❤️
Agreed! What a wonderful idea!
There is one near me! It’s painted like one too! It brightens my day every time I see it!
This is a great list to have on hand - not just for Friday! Thank you for your thoughtfulness!
♥️♥️♥️
I'm going to listen to my vinyl records and go to a fitness class (already paid for!).
That sounds PERFECT!!

I love the idea of library telescopes!
Love this list! I’m going to clean my apartment and work on my 2025 my vision board that I never finished in January.
That sounds so lovely!

Similar to spending quality time with you animal, volunteer at the animal shelter!
LOVE this!! I'm going to share it in my newsletter this week!
Thanks so much!!

It is truly such a delight!!
